The Kidde 20SD10 is a battery-powered smoke alarm built around a sealed 10-year power source, photoelectric sensing, and clear visual and audible status signals. The 5-inch housing supports residential wall or ceiling surface mounting, while the 85 dB alarm is rated at 10 feet. This model is smoke only, with no voice alerts and no interconnect function.
10 Year Sealed Battery Power
Once activated, the sealed battery eliminates routine battery changes for 10 years. At the end of unit life, the alarm provides replacement notifications so the device is not left in service beyond its intended replacement point. Internal self-testing components monitor operation between checks, while Kidde still requires a manual Test and Hush button test once each week.
Photoelectric Sensing With Clear Status Alerts
Photoelectric sensing monitors for smoke and uses enhanced sensing technology that helps reduce false alarms often caused by cooking. Three LED colors communicate operating states. Green indicates standby, amber identifies fault conditions, and red flashes with the smoke alarm pattern. Alarm memory can also show that smoke was detected during the previous 24 hours.
Simple Surface Mounting And Hush Control
The included twist-and-click mounting bracket supports installation on a wall or ceiling surface. For a known nuisance alarm when no emergency is present, the Test and Hush control can silence the smoke alarm for about 8 to 10 minutes before it resets automatically. The 20SD10 is tested and certified to UL 217 for smoke alarm use.
