Bright Aperture

The AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G allows for a comfortable working distance between you and your subject - producing a more natural response. Offering a 35mm equivalent of 75mm, this is an ideal lens for portraiture when used on Nikon DX-format DSLRs. An aperture this bright means that you will be able to successfully shoot in low-light conditions, all while enjoying shallow depth of field control. 

Background Blur

When used on an FX DSLR, the perspective rendered by the 50mm nearly matches the human eye. The background blur is exaggerated thanks to its f/1.4 aperture. This results in a natural appearance of the subject within the image. When used on a DX DSLR, the 50mm lens acts as a 75mm portrait lens with the subject filling more of the frame.

Super Integrated Coating

Nikon designed this lens with its Super Integrated Coating, an anti-reflective coating used to limit the effects of ghosting or flare. This anti-reflective coating is an optical design which ensures superior clarity and image brilliance, even in poor or unfavorable lighting conditions. Nikon applies the anti-reflective coating through a special process, layering the lens surface in order to substantially reduce unwanted flare or ghosting. This process helps to ensure incredibly rich image contrast and true color fidelity.

M/A Mode

This AF-S NIKKOR lens includes Nikon's proprietary M/A mode. This feature allows you to effortlessly switch from autofocus to manual operation with virtually no time lag. Regardless of the AF mode, you can simply and conveniently switch to manual focus even during AF servo operation.

Silent Wave Motor (SWM)
